life isn't average. neither are we.
W.A.T.C.H. Out Now
Kristina Chau - Friday, April 13, 2012

Hey party peeps,

I hope you're enjoying the lovely spring that we are having.  I most definitely am!  I love this time of the year when everything is blooming and the days are becoming longer and everyone is out and about.

As a party guru, I'm constantly out on the scene.  While I'm planning several client events, I'm attending various others as well.  Last week I was kindly invited by Andrew Richard Designs Events to attend the second annual W.A.T.C.H. Chairman's Annual Fundraiser on Thursday April 12.

Established in 1997 with over 10,000 volunteers since its inception, W.A.T.C.H. has become one of downtown Toronto’s premier community service organizations. Working with a small group of youth in some of Toronto’s most underprivileged neighbourhoods, W.A.T.C.H. volunteers began the journey towards creating a brighter future for this vulnerable group. Initially, on a weekly basis and eventually daily, volunteers would interact on a one-to-one basis with the youth in such activities as tutoring, sports, music and the arts. As word increasingly spread of the work being done, so did the number of volunteers and supporters.

The event was a lot of fun!  I met so many new and interesting people who were there to support this great cause, and I bumped into so many unexpected friends there.  The evening raised approximately $15,000 which is fantastic!  Here are some photos highlights of the evening:

A big thanks goes out to the title sponsor Andrew Richard Designs for inviting me to this event.  I love their event space and I'm always happy to support a good cause.  W.A.T.C.H. is definitely a community organization that's doing great things in our city and one to definitely watch out for!

For the life of the party,

Where has the summer gone?
Kristina Chau - Thursday, August 05, 2010
Hey party people!

I'm sooo sorry I've been MIA for so long!  June and July have passed by in a blink of an eye, leaving me no time to blog.

But, now that I have some breathing space, here's the rundown of what's been going on in the party world and what's been keeping me so busy!

June 6, 2010 - simply divas.  Not Your Average Party was proud to support the 5th annual simply divas at the Berkeley Church.  This simply stellar fundraiser raised over $15,000 in support of Family Association for Mental Health Everywhere (FAME)!

June 19, 2010 - Mitsubishi City Chase.  Not Your Average Party was contracted to be a Course Manager for this urban adventure race.  Teams of two competed by making their way to various Chase Points around the city by foot or on public transit.  It was super fun!

June 30 - July 2, 2010 - TD Victoria International Jazz Festival.  Festival execution is another one of Not Your Average Party's forte so when Armstrong Partnership asked me to head out to Victoria to ensure TD's sponsorship activation was in place, I jumped at the chance!  As you will see - I even got to spend Canada Day here!

July 3 - July 5, 2010 - TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.  The next leg of my west coast trip was to head over to Vancouver to once again be the point contact and oversee TD's sponsorship activation.  Have I mentioned I love my job?!

July 9-11, 2010 - TD Sunfest.  This festival in Victoria Park in London, Ontario is one of the best cultural festivals I've been too!  I was once again the lead contact for TD's sponsorship activation which included a TD misting station, a Monster Mural for kids to paint, balloon giveaways and free eco-friendly bags from TD Friends of the Environment.  What a great weekend!

July 14, 2010 - A Commitment to Toronto - Karen Sun Campaign Fundraiser.  Not Your Average Party was proud to support Karen Sun, City Councillor candidate in Ward 19 for her fundraiser at Meta Gallery (pictured below).  This contemporary art gallery on Ossington Avenue between Dundas and Queen Street was a great space to house this event, as Karen being the recognized community leader she is, is passionate about supporting local businesses.

Franklin Templeton Investments Outlook and Opportunities Forum.

As if all the above wasn't enough to keep me busy, during the    months  of June and July I worked alongside the awesome marketing  team at  Franklin Templeton Investments to ensure their annual forum  was a  huge success - and it was!

What makes this corporate event unique is it takes place in Roy  Thomson Hall instead of your typical convention centre.  This great  space normally houses musicians and artist of all genres, so it offered a  bright and creative environment for this annual event , giving it a "not  your average" touch!

So there you have it!  Can you understand and forgive me now for not posting?  Anyhow this party guru is now working on an exciting fundraiser for SKETCH, which will be held on October 13 at Polson Pier. I will be posting updates here, on Twitter and on Facebook so keep checking back and enjoy the party.

For the life of the party,

*Note - I had to take out mention of a wedding client due to a pending publication on it in a high profile wedding magazine.  Hopefully it will make it in and you can read all about it there!

La Reverie
Kristina Chau - Wednesday, June 16, 2010
I attended a great industry event last night -La Reverie at Andrew Richard Designs.  Located on Adelaide East, next door to Up Country, this gorgeous show room of chic and luxurious patio furniture is also a special event venue.

As I'm always looking for unique spaces in Toronto, Andrew Richard Designs Events is definitely one on my list as it can be used for corporate and social events of all kinds.  Coincidentally, I just executed a wedding there this past Saturday and it was gorgeous!

Anyhow, back to La Reverie.  As we entered ARD we stopped to pose for a snapshot, and then took a moment to drink it all in.  There were two fully stocked bars and at least 10, if not more, caterers showcasing their culinary delights on the Atrium floor.  Needless to say, this party guru/foodie was experiencing sensory overload and I couldn't wait to dive in.  Here are some pics of some of the tasty treats we enjoyed:

Mini chicken souvlakia with tzatiziki and mini Greek salad.

Shrimp and Sweet Peat Parfait with a Savoury Whipped Cream & Cheery Tomato by L-Eat Catering.
BTW - Niki from L-Eat is a doll and amazing to work with!

Lobster Pot Pie.

La Piece de Resistance - An Amazing Cheese & Fruit Display by Pusateris.

Delicious White Chocolate Raspberry Tarts, again by L-Eat Catering.

Besides all of the wonderful food and drinks enjoyed by all, ARD showcased some ideas for added entertainment at an event.  There was everything from a live band, to fortune tellers.  Here are a few pictures:

Soular kicking off the party right with their soulful voices and funky sounds!

Upstairs in the Loft DJ Daniel Buckman of BELLOSOUND spins some great tunes.

I loved the pink lounge!  The beautiful draped fabric and flowers were designed by ARD with rented furniture from Contemporary Furniture Rentals.

A caricaturist creates a fun portrait for one of the guests.

Just outside the pink lounge were two very popular fortune tellers.

Miles plays his sax alongside BELLOSOUNDS and adds a nice bluesy tone.

Helping ourselves at the candy buffet!

How cute are these little windowed bags? They're from Creative Bags who have an assortment of custom bags, ribbons, tissue and wraps for all of your party needs.

To finish off a great night, I redeemed my ice cream coupon at Captain Cone for a yummy soft-serve twist cone!

As a party guru I know how much work it takes to put something like thistogether, so kudos to Andrew, his team and all of the vendors who did a great job!

For the life of the party,

not your average party
